Chapter 7
11 And Solomon finished the house of the LORD and the house of the king and all that came into Solomon's heart to do in the house of the LORD and in his house; it succeeded. 12 And the LORD appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, "I have heard your prayer and I have chosen this place for Myself for a house of sacrifice." 13 If I restrain the heavens so there is no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people... 14 and my people, whom my name is called upon, humble themselves, and they pray and seek my face and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from the heavens and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer in this place. 16 Now I have chosen and consecrated this house for my name to be there forever, and my eyes and my heart will be there all the days. 17 And as for you, if you walk before Me just as David your father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and keep My statutes and My judgments. 18 And I will establish the throne of your kingdom just as I cut for David your father, saying, 'There shall not be cut off for you a man ruling in Israel.' 19 But if you turn away and abandon my statutes and my commandments that I have set before you, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them... 20 And I will uproot them from upon my ground which I gave to them, and this house which I consecrated to my name I will cast from upon my face, and I will give it as a proverb and as a byword among all the peoples. 21 And this house which was most high—for every passerby upon it will set and say, "Why has the LORD done thus to this land and to this house?" 22 And they will say, “Because they abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out from the land of Egypt, and they held fast to other gods and bowed down to them and served them; therefore the LORD brought upon them all this evil.”
